Thekkady is one of the world’s most fascinating wild life reserves. The Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary is spread across 777 square kilo- meters of which 360 square kilometers is thick ever green forest; it is noted for its geomorphology, diversity of wild life and scenic beauty. The Periyar Wild Life Sanctuary was declared as a Tiger Reserve in 1978.
